Are you living by faith, or by sight?

During this trying time, the pandemic of Covid 19, our entire world has been turned upside down. We are socially distancing and trying to live as safely as we can. This is a scary time, but let me tell you, there is comfort and hope for people because we have Someone Who died in our place so that we could be reconciled to God. Are you living in fear right now? Are you so worried about the possibility of you or the people you love falling prey to this invisible threat? If so, you don’t need to allow fear to control you. You can seek the One who has the power to heal, to restore, to renew your life. Someone Who will help you live by faith, not by sight. That Someone is Jesus!

I have to admit that I too often live by sight. It’s really hard to feel secure, and rest in Jesus’ arms when everything seems to be falling apart. When you have to worry about making sure everything is disinfected and safe to eat. It’s a wonder I can even get out of bed in the morning just to start all over again. But here is where I have become hopeful. The more I trust God, the more relaxed I feel about this situation. He has comforted me with this thought: “You were never meant to bear this burden!”

Imagine, the God of the Universe speaking directly to you, comforting you with His reason for creation, to enjoy unfettered and close relationship with you for all of eternity. He never intended for us to worry about germs, or illness, or taxes, or jobs, or rent, and especially not death! All He wanted was for us to enjoy unbroken fellowship with Him, to enjoy His creation and to work joyfully on things that are truly meaningful and worthwhile: relationships, art, music, love and laughter, in a world that is perfection in all ways.

So, we’re not living in that world, yet! But doesn’t that put things into proper perspective? In this world we will experience trouble. God guarantees that! But we don’t have to set our hope for this life, for there is “..an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for you,” (1 Peter 1:4 KJV). An eternal home with the triune God as our Father, Jesus the Lord of lords and King of kings, and the Holy Spirit indwelling in us.

Romans 8:24 KJV For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

So when the world screams at you to pay attention to all that is scary around you, you can rebuke the world and say “But thanks be to God, Which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthian 15:57 KJV

Jesus Christ, our High Priest, extends His loving arms our way and says “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 KJV

It’s hard to be courageous in this world because of all the potential and highly visible problems, but when the Object of our Faith is Jesus, we can live in peace, even when everything around us looks impossible to overcome.

So, while we must live in this imperfect world for a little while longer and disinfect our spaces and be socially distant for a time, do not allow your fears to overtake you. Instead, allow God to give you His peace. Do what you can and give the rest to God! He Who helps you is Faithful! (Scripture about God’s staying faithful to His promises: Joshua 21:45, 1 Kings 8:56)

And if you haven’t done so yet, just ask Jesus to forgive you, ask Him to come into your life and lead you to all righteousness. Do it today! Don’t tarry!

Isaiah 55:6 KJV Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near:

First, there was the fall of man from original sin in the garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. God punished His creation because He is a Holy God that cannot overlook sin. But God, in His great Love and Mercy, sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world as a completely flesh & blood Human in order to save mankind from all of their sins: past, present, and future. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, taught His followers to Love and forgive and then, as God’s perfect plan was fulfilled, He was crucified and died on a cross, was buried in a tomb, then was raised back to life on the third day completely defeating death forever, SAVING ALL who would BELIEVE upon Him for the forgiveness of all their sins: past, present, and future!

Jesus is fully God and became fully Human, and He WILLINGLY died for us so that we could be reconciled to God and spend eternity in Heaven with Him. While on earth, Jesus was tempted in all ways just as we are, but He never sinned, making Him the PERFECT and FINAL sacrifice for all of our sins: past, present, and future!

You can say this simple prayer with a humble heart to invite Jesus into your life. It will be the best decision you have ever made!

Dear Jesus,

Please forgive me of all my sins: past, present, and future. I admit that I’m a sinner in need of You. I believe You were born of the virgin, Mary, lived a sinless life and then You demonstrated Your tremendous love for me by willingly dying on the cross for my sins. You were buried in a tomb, and then on the third day, You were resurrected back to life again, completely conquering death forever! I’m now ready to accept Your gracious gift of eternal life! Please help me to live from this day forward by faith and not by sight. In Your Precious Name I pray! Amen!

If you humbly and meaningfully said this prayer, please find a Bible based church that wholly believes in the Holy Bible and the Triune God: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Indwelling Holy Spirit. A church that believes your salvation is based on faith alone, not of works, but that God will equip you to do good works. Begin reading the Holy Bible and find a Bible study to take part in. Seek out a family of born again Christians so that you may begin your walk with Jesus!
